This spring was extra special for Urban Peak as we celebrated not one, but TWO prom nights highlighting inclusivity! The first of these fabulous proms was a fundraiser put on by our partners at Queer Prom Denver, with half of all proceeds going to Urban Peak programs.

Beyond therapy, what are other ways we support youths' mental health? One popular activity involves cuddling with a furry friend. Urban Peak has partnered up with Denver Pet Partners (DPP) and its volunteers (both human and canine), to bring the short-term joy and long-term benefits of emotional support animals to youth in our spaces.

For Black History Month in February, many of the creative works throughout the exhibition were created by Black artists or featured depictions of Black culture and people.

Youth Spotlight: Josiah
Josiah is a wonderful human with a bright smile that lights up the whole room and a wicked sense of humor that will keep you laughing until your stomach hurts. He is known around Urban Peak for his impeccable dress and is always wearing a trendy suit and tie.

Peak Spotlight: Colorado Avalanche VISIT The Spot
Urban Peak youth and staff were thrilled to welcome representatives and players from the Colorado Avalanche to The Spot for some mixing and mingling this month! Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, owner of the Denver Nuggets, the Colorado Rapids and the Avs, has been a strong supporter of Urban Peak for years and we’re excited to be working even more closely together!

Youth Spotlight: Jako
Jako was awarded Youth of the Week and recently celebrated his achievement by having lunch with his favorite Urban Peak staff! He first came to Urban Peak when he connected with our outreach team back in March of 2023 and now he regularly visits our Drop-In Center.

Simmy Kifletsion stared up at a portrait of herself hanging in the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver. The 19-year-old’s knees came close to buckling as she clapped a hand over her mouth, eyes brimming with tears.
